Bots showing in the users online

In the users online list at the bottom of the page, earlier I noticed the Yahoo's bot "Slurp" was "Online"

Now I see that he's been joined by some friends..

Google, MSNBot (3), Yahoo! Slurp

Yeah that's a modification Ross made yesterday. It's just so when the site says it has guests, people know if they are people actually looking at their work or if it is the search engines crawling the site. If there is a number next to the bot, that number is the amount of bots from that search engine that are crawling the site at that moment in time.

There's been some [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] about the new version of AVG Antivirus 8.0 that when people do searches in the search engines it does a pre-load of all the sites in the search results, thing is, it's spoofing an Internet Explorer UA so it looks like it's a regular user loading the page, but it's just actually background loading the page to check it for nastiness and then alerting the user on the search results page if the site is "safe" before they even click on the link.....

It seems all well and nice for the users, but for site owners this thing loads your pages whether an actual user ever see's it or not, shows up in the logs as a visitor, multiple re-loads etc etc.... It'd be interesting to see how this thing shows up in the users list...
